Research Interests:

I have conducted two research studies, one entitled, "Short Courtship and Early Marital Age in the Military," which was funded by an Undergraduate Research and Creativity grant and selected for presentation at the Central States Communication Association Undergraduate Research Conference in 2011. The second is my senior research project for communication studies: "Just a Text Away: Texting and Parent-Child Relationships during the College Transition." I have submitted abstracts for both studies to various conferences in 2012.

Biography

Aiyana is a peer advisor in the Academic Advising Center as well as a member of Communication Studies Club and Lambda Pi Eta, the communication studies honor society. She also sits on the board for Capable Canines of Wisconsin, a nonprofit organization that trains service dogs for people with physical disabilities and autism. She enjoys reading, cooking and being outdoors. After her graduation in Spring 2012, Aiyana plans to attend graduate school to become a professional academic advisor.
