In addition to education-related coursework, students seeking EA-A licensure must complete coursework for at least one EA-A Certifiable Major (see below). Students may also choose to complete coursework for an EA-A Certifiable Minor.

Broadfield Science

Major Requirements:

  • 22-24 credit minor in one of the following: biology, chemistry, earth science or physics;
  • 14 credits in one additional science area;
  • 8 credits in each of the two remaining areas; and, if necessary,
  • 2-3 credits selected from the aforementioned sciences and/or history of or philosophy of or issues of science, to total 54 science credits; and
  • One mathematics course beyond General Education requirements.

Broadfield Social Studies

Major Requirements:

  • Option A:
    • 34-36 credit major in geography, history, political science, or sociology;
    • 20 credits, with a minimum of 3 credits from any two of the following areas: anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science, psychology, or sociology.
  • Option B:
    • 22-23 credit minor in one of the following: economics, geography, history, political science, psychology or sociology;
    • 32 credits with a minimum of 3 credits from three of the other subject areas.
