Summer Programs

The University of Wisconsin – La Crosse Pre-College Programs
will be offering 3 programs during the summer of 2014.

Summer Mentoring, Adventures and Reading Together (S.M.A.R.T)
(entering 1st-8th grade)

 

A program open to all students entering grades 1 – 8, this program meets for five weeks, two days a week in the afternoons.  Students are provided transportation from their homes to the local library. An assigned mentor (college student) will help them with guided reading, and students will also be exposed to a number of enrichment opportunities within the community.  To celebrate the completion of the program, the group will go on a special field trip.

Mississippi River Summer Adventure – Introductory (entering 7th-10th grade)
The Mississippi River Summer Adventure – introductory Camp is a residential, week long program for students entering grades 7 through 10.  Participants learn elements of math and science while developing skills in various areas including team building, outdoor adventures, collaborative thinking, and exploration.

Mississippi River Summer Adventure – Advance (entering 9th-12th grade)
The Mississippi River Summer Adventure – Advanced Camp is a residential, week long program for students entering grades 9 through 12.  Participants travel to northern Wisconsin to camp, hike and canoe while exploring non-violent social change, conflict resolution strategies, leadership training and cultural sharing workshops.  In addition to these great outdoor adventures, students visit a college campus and complete a service project.

NOTE: Please include a copy of the students grades for the 2013-2014 school year (1st & 2nd quarters, at least)
