Language arts and a passion for reading are the hallmarks of this summer program for commuters.  Over a period of a month and a half, in June and July, upper elementary and middle and high school students participate twice each week in individualized language arts sessions utilizing journaling and books of their own choosing. College student mentors and educational professionals serve as guides and fellow travelers on a "summer vacation of the mind."  In addition to skill building, visiting the library and encouraging reading throughout the summer, this group takes great advantage of the beautiful Seven Rivers region of western Wisconsin, visiting area attractions, parks, and trails, opening the eyes of the students to the wonders that surround them.
