• Dandia Night (2007)

• Dandia is a dance featured in Western India.  The sticks (dandiyas) of the dance represent the sword of Durga, a Hindu goddess, and are used to symbolize the mock-flight between Mahishasura and Durga.

 East Meets  West  (2007)

• East meets West is the South Asian Student organization's annual event.  We serve ethnic South Asian food and plan several entertaining performances for the evening.

• Henna (2007) 

  The henna plant produces a red-orange dye.
  This dye  is applied to the body and leaves behind a temporary tattoo.  SASO
  has used henna tattoos as a means to spread awareness of  the South Asian
  culture, as well as fundraise  for the organization and AIDS research in South Asia.
