Who We Are

We are an organization of men and women on the campus of the University of Wisconsin — La Crosse that deal specifically with educating others and ourselves about the root causes and social norms surrounding sexual assault.

We understand that sexual assault is not just a women’s issue but is a men's issue as well.  We realize that everyone contributes to the culture in which we live; and therefore, everyone has the ability to change the rape culture which is prevalent in our society today.

Sexual assault is an issue we all must deal with due to the psychological and physical effects on the individual and our society as a whole.  It is through the communication and collaborative work with all groups that we will begin to make a difference.

Our Mission

The vision of Men United Against Sexual Assault is primarily invested in the concept that it is necessary to empower men to understand that ending sexual violence is an issue is paramount in their pursuit to end all forms of violence primarily sexual assault.

We therefore call ourselves Men United Against Sexual Assault, not to exclude women from the goals of our organization or from our membership, but to empower men to realize how important their role is in ending violence against women.

Our vision to end sexual violence will be accomplished by the following essential tenets that we stand by:

  • We will work to challenge society's definitions and stereotypes of masculinity, as this is one of the strongest contributors to a rape tolerant society.

  • We will work with women's organizations and the women of our membership to ensure that at all times we are working in conjunction with the goals and deals of the many women that are committed to end sexual violence.

  • We will continue to work with men and for men to establish in them the understanding that their role in ending sexual violence is the key that will end its pervasiveness.

  • We will seek out and work to end the many contributors that feed into our culture that is tolerant of sexual violence.

  • We will work as individuals and as an organization to educate ourselves and others on the many roles we can take on to end sexual violence.

We, the members of MUASA, believe that there will come a time when all forms of sexual violence will be eradicated from our culture and we will continue to work until this goal is met.
