This book documents the experiences of the Republic of Singapore’s sporting talents who have represented the city-state at the Olympic Games since 1936. A total of 147 female and male Olympians who journeyed to the world’s biggest sports meet are featured. The book incorporates fact and commentary, in the words of the Olympians themselves, as well as coaches, educators, and Singapore’s media. Singapore Olympians: The complete who’s who 1936-2004 includes: a narrative for each athlete that details their biographies, competitions, and memories; history of each sport in which Singapore has sent athletes; over 250 images; and data on records and representation.
About the Author
Dr. David Waters serves as Program Director and Associate Professor in
the Sport Administration Program (a Master of Science program in the
Exercise and Sport Science Department). He has been a UW-L faculty member
since fall 2004 and has overseen graduate programs for both on-campus and
Continuing Education students. Previously, he taught at the National
Institute of Singapore for 7 years and was an Academic Fellow and media
editor at the Singapore Olympic Academy. He has authored 2 sport education
books. He has coached and advised Olympian athletes for 2 Olympic Games for
the Republic of China and taught at the National College of Physical
Education and Sports in
