Cataloging Department
The Cataloging Department prepares the bibliographic
records which appear in Murphy Library's catalog.
We obtain our cataloging copy (between five and six
thousand titles each year) from OCLC. Over ninety
percent of our titles have matching records in the OCLC
database. We contribute original cataloging to OCLC for
three hundred to five hundred titles per year. The
department currently has one faculty librarian, one
classified librarian, and 1.3 support staff. We also
employ two student workers for approximately sixteen
hours per week.
