Using Amazon Link

When you are browsing for books or videos at amazon.com or Barnes & Noble you can, in one single click, discover if the title you are viewing online is available at Murphy Library.  This is done through a simple "bookmarklet" that is added to the links area of your browser. It is very easy to set up.

To install the bookmarklet to your computer's browser Internet, either Explorer or Firefox (you have to do this on every computer from which you want this feature) left click and drag this link UW-L Murphy Library to the Links toolbar on your browser.  See the image below.

There is a bug with Windows XP SP2 which doesn't allow one to drag a link directly to the Link Toolbar.  Instead, right click on the UW-L Murphy Library link above and select Add to Favorites, say Yes, and select the Links folder.

Your IE and Google toolbar's Enable Popups feature must be enabled.

If you would like to learn more about this bookmarklet try this four-minute screencast (Flash 8, earlier Flash versions).

Bookmarklets are little bits of JavaScript code, so your browser needs to be JavaScript enabled for this feature to work.

This searching feature is based solely on each book's ISBN number.   You will have to be careful, as the library may have the hardcover edition of an item when you are looking at the paperback edition.  Hardcover and paperback editions of the same book have different ISBNs.
