BIOGRAPHY:

A member of the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra since 1988, Mary Beth Hensel has held both the principal oboe and English horn positions and made numerous solo appearances with the orchestra during that time. Ms. Hensel is an active freelance artist in the tri-state area in addition to maintaining a highly sought after private studio. Currently the oboe instructor at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, she has also taught at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, Winona State University and St. Mary’s University in Minnesota, and Viterbo University also in La Crosse. She is a member and co-founder of Bluffside Consort, a chamber music trio. She also serves as a cantor at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph the Workman, and a member of the respective choirs at both the Cathedral and the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. In addition, Ms. Hensel is employed by Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation’s Bereavement and Advance Care Planning Services. Ms. Hensel attended the Manhattan School of Music and earned her degree in music performance from the Juilliard School where she studied with Thomas Stacy.
