Volunteer
Volunteers assist MVAC in a variety of capacities,
depending on their level of interest, experience and expertise.
During MVAC’s Field
Survey Opportunity, volunteers work with our staff to explore local fields
for unreported archaeological sites.
Local collectors volunteer their time to display and
discuss their personal collections of artifacts.
Come to the Artifact Show
held each spring at Valley View Mall and see artifacts representing the area’s
long history.
Volunteers trained in field techniques can assist staff
with rescue operations. Volunteers
were called to help with the excavation at the Second
Fort Crawford project in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, during the summer of
1999.
The Mississippi Valley Archaeology Center’s Board
of Directors is made up of elected volunteers from the tri-state area and
beyond. These dedicated
professionals have a strong interest in archaeology and spend a great deal of
time and energy supporting the mission of MVAC.
If you are interested in volunteering and would like
more information, contact MVAC at 608-785-8454 or Jean.
We would love to put your experience to work!
