While the Newman Catholic
Center is the Catholic parish for students at the University of
Wisconsin and Western Technical College campuses, our doors are
open to anyone looking for a quiet place for prayer or study; a place to
find an ear ready to listen to what ever concerns you might have; a place
to come to if you’d just like to chill out and relax, maybe catch up on
the latest reality-mania.
Our chapel is open early until late
into the evening if you're looking for some peace and quiet for prayer.
There is a daily Mass as noon, as well as a variety of ongoing prayer
experiences that students are welcome to participate in. Check Weekly
Ongoings.
The lower level of the Center has a
number of rooms that are just the thing for quiet study or for group
projects. Students are welcome to come and make use of these spaces as
needed to help you in your work.
The Bartl Fireplace Lounge, also on
the lower level, is a great place for students to chill. Comfortable
furniture in a pleasant setting provide an atmosphere for relaxation with
friends or with the latest episode of Oprah a on the lounge TV.
It's the perfect spot to take a break from the books. There is plenty of
room, bring your friends along over to watch your favorite video or the
game of the week.
Adopt-A-Student
~ Permanent members of our parish family look forward to meeting student
parishioners. As well, students often enjoy making connections with parish
families. To help this happen, you can sign up to be "adopted"
by one of the parish families. No, this doesn't mean you get an allowance
and the keys to the car on weekends, but you can look forward to being
welcomed into a parish family to share a meal or be part of a family
event. You sign up for this on the student parishioner registration card.
You'll find that we're big on hospitality here!
