Program History

     The National Youth Sports Program has operated nationally since 1968 and is conducted by selected institutions of higher education through the NCAA.  As one of over 200 institutions participating nationwide, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and the 7-Rivers Region are very fortunate and excited to be a part of such a comprehensive program.

     The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse has received grant funding and hosted NYSP since 1992.  University students, faculty, and staff provide their expertise while serving as activity director, liaison officer, medical coordinator, sports specialists, counselors and support staff.  The project administrator oversees the program at no cost to NYSP.
