Hosting Department/College

Hosting an international faculty /scholar requires extra documents and different procedures.  Due to the new visa regulations and requirements, US embassies and consulates abroad require foreign scholars to have personal interviews before receiving visas.  This procedure has caused many visa delays.  In order to help you bringing international faculty/scholars to UW-La Crosse in a timely manner, the Office of International Education encourages each hosting department and college to:
  • Invite scholars as early as possible.  Allow a minimum of three months from the date OIE receives the "International Visitor Approval Form" to the anticipated arrival date of scholars.
  • Make sure the International Visitor Approval Form is complete and all supporting documents are attached before submitting to OIE.
  • Notify OIE as soon as your scholar arrives on campus and bring him/her to OIE to check in within ten days of arrival.
  • Notify OIE within ten days when your scholar completes his/her program.

Visiting Faculty and Scholars

Welcome to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.  We are delighted that you are considering UW-L for your international research or teaching.  In order for us to help you with appropriate documents, please fill out the "International Visitor Approval Form"  (IVAF) and send it to the UW-L hosting department.  If you would like to stay in our International Scholars House, please attach the "Housing Reservation Form" with your IVAF.  Please note that only five (5) rooms are available each semester.  Early reservation is highly recommended.
