experience not only academic excellence abroad, but also life in London
and the cultural opportunities this remarkable city has to offer. The
fantastic support network of the London Metropolitan community makes
life in London personal and unforgettable. Originally established over a
hundred years ago, London Metropolitan today is a modern place of
education, offering approximately 125 undergraduate and 50 postgraduate
programs. Approximately 14,000 students attend the university, and over
1,000 of them come from countries other than the United Kingdom. New
facilities are constantly being developed throughout the university.
London Metropolitan University was recently rated 15th out of the top 30
U.K. research universities.
THE
LONDON AREA
London Metropolitan University's location in Islington, close to the
center of London, means easy access to the capital's cultural, sporting
and social venues. Well-known sites such as the Houses of Parliament,
Big Ben, the Tower of London and the British Library, are just short
journeys away from the University by underground. London's galleries and
schools of art make the city an artistic center to rival Paris and Rome,
and only London can offer such diverse theater venues including the Blue
Note, the Royal Opera House, and the Royal Court Theatre. Major
international sporting events take place in London at Wimbledon, Lords,
and Wembly Stadium. In London, going for a walk can be an adventure. The
various neighborhoods, such as Islington, Kensington, and Bloomsbury,
all have their own individual character. Markets, shops, parks,
restaurants, clubs, and street entertainers are abundant.
