Webster University-Geneva

WEBSTER UNIVERSITY
Webster University Geneva is part of an international network that includes campuses in London, Leiden, Cha-am, Vienna, and Shanghai as well as the home campus in St. Louis, Missouri. Webster's international faculty boasts both academic standing and professional expertise representing 15 different nations. The instructional style is American, the language of instruction is English, but classroom participation is cross-cultural.

GENEVA
At the crossroads of important communication roads linking the Mediterranean Sea to the North of Europe, Geneva has become a town of exchanges, ideas and trade. The international city, with 40% of its population from other lands remains open to people of different origins and cultures. Today, Geneva's humanitarian role and action are more than ever necessary and it is widely recognized as the city of Peace and of major international negotiations. Geneva plays host to some 190 international organizations—the UN European headquarters, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the World Trade Organization (WTO). Cosmopolitan, open to the world and to innovations, Geneva is a favorable location for negotiation and reflection where all the statesmen of the world can meet.

ACADEMIC PROGRAM
A complete list of courses offered is available on-line.

COURSE EQUIVALENCIES
The course equivalencies spreadsheets have been compiled from past approved Academic Plan forms.  They show when the course was last approved and how it transferred back to La Crosse.  You may notice that some classes satisfied several UWL options.

This list is not comprehensive nor does it take the place of  meeting with your advisor for final approval!  They are meant to be a guide of what courses may be appropriate for your studies abroad.

HOUSING AND MEALS
Students will have the opportunity to live in Geneva's on-campus housing.  Webster Geneva's dormitory boasts modern facilities and beautiful views of Lake Leman and the Swiss Alps.  The housing provides access to campus facilities and is located a short distance from the local metro station.  On-campus accommodations consist of shared bedrooms, shared bathrooms and kitchenettes, laundry facilities, in-room internet connection, and access to the campus library, gym, and cafeteria.

There is no meal plan available at Webster.  Options include preparing meals in housing kitchens; eating in the campus café; or eating in restaurants and cafes in town.  On weekdays, an inexpensive lunch can be taken at the university cafeterias or in town.

PASSPORTS & VISAS
Before you travel abroad, you will need to obtain a passport, which will serve as proof of your U.S. citizenship. A passport may allow you to gain entry to (and exit from) other countries. Depending on the country to which you're traveling, a visa may be required as well. Entry requirements vary from one country to another. The U.S. State Department issues travel warnings specific to certain countries, and offers tips and publications relevant to travel abroad generally. Well in advance of your departure, you should also familiarize yourself with international travel health issues, and health recommendations specific to your destination.
