Undergraduate Application Requirements

In order to apply for undergraduate admission, please follow the instructions below.

  • Application: In order to be considered for admission, students must complete an application online at http://apply.wisconsin.edu.
  • Fees: Submit the $44 Application Fee and $50 Processing Fee.  Both fees are required and non-refundable and should be made payable in U.S. dollars to the “University of Wisconsin-La Crosse”.  You can pay the fees in two payments by money orders or checks or with a credit card at the same time you submit an online application.
  • Academic Records: Official or officially-certified copies of academic records in all previous secondary school and post-secondary education undertaken, whether or not the program was completed.  This includes all transcripts, mark sheets, and national examination results.  Academic records issued in languages other than English must be accompanied by official (school-issues or certified) literal English translations.  Photocopies, scanned or notarized copies are not accepted as official documents.
  • *Transfer applicants: If you are seeking transfer credits, course descriptions must be submitted before you begin your studies at UW-L.

  • English Language Proficiency: In order to fulfill the English proficiency requirement, you must submit an official TOEFL score of at least 73 iBT or 550 pBT; OR an official IELTS score of at least 6.0 with at least a 5.5 in all subscores. UW-La Crosse’s institutional code is 1914.
  • Undergraduate applicants who do not have the minimum TOEFL/IELTS score may be considered for conditional admission.  Students who are conditionally admitted are required to complete the UW-L English as a Second Language program or submit passing TOEFL or IELTS scores before enrolling in academic courses.
  • Complete a Financial Certification Form with supporting bank statement.  Students seeking an F-1 visa are required to provide proof of funding for at least one year of study.  If you are admitted, these documents will be required in order for us to issue an I-20.  The minimum available amount that must be shown for undergraduate students is $26,608.
  • The Office of International Education offers limited merit-based scholarships to new international students with outstanding records.  More information can be found on the application form here: http://www.uwlax.edu/oie/IA/Forms/scholarship.pdf.

REMINDER: It is the student's responsibility to reserve/secure campus housing if admitted to UW-La Crosse.  The Housing Reservation Form is available on-line.  First semester international students are not required to pay the $75 reservation fee.  Students returning to campus should communicate with the Office of Residence Life in order to reserve/secure housing.
