Faculty Teaching Opportunities

  • All dates are subject to change depending on flight schedules and other logistical considerations.
  • Faculty are responsible for the recruitment of students in order to participate; classes that do not meet minimum enrollments (15-18 students) will be cancelled.
  • Arrangement for travel, housing, and registration of students will be the responsibility of the Office of International Education.

Galway, Ireland
Summer Session
Number of Teaching Positions: 2-4

This 4-week program (June) will be led by UW-L faculty members and is hosted on the campus of the National University of Ireland, Galway. Students participating in the program may enroll in two courses offered by UW-L faculty. Faculty will be selected to teach based on a balance of courses in order to attract students from a variety of disciplines. The program will be open to freshman, so lower level, General Education courses are encouraged. Teaching faculty will be responsible for proposing course-related field trips, which must be incorporated into the program fee as early as possible but no later than January.

Stirling, Scotland
Summer Session
Number of Teaching Positions: 1-3
Spanning four weeks in July, this program offers students the opportunity to combine one course taught by UW-L faculty with one course offered by the University of Stirling.  Faculty will be selected based on the course proposals that best complement those courses offered by the International Summer University.  General education courses are encouraged, as this program will be open to students at all levels.  A list of modules offered by the University of Stirling can be found on their website.

Summer Session
Number or Teaching Positions: 1-3
Similar to the Stirling, Scotland program, this opportunity combines a UW-L faculty course with one offered by Kingston University.  For this program, the faculty member selected will identify one of the Kingston modules, and all participants will be enrolled in both courses.  Special consideration will be given to course proposals that offer the best synergy with those modules offered by Kingston University.  A list of modules offered by Kingston University can be found on their website.
