Workshops/Courses
This year's grant
project began with a weeklong workshop, July 18-22, 2005.
The workshop was held from 9:00-4:00 in Wimberly
Hall on the UW-L campus.
During the workshop week, from August 2-6, participants reviewed and extended their knowledge about Six Traits
writing assessment and instruction.
Participants also formed study teams which will meet
four times across the upcoming school year.
At the start
of the project, participants were at various levels of
expertise in working with Six Traits, from novice to more
advanced. For
that reason, the workshop week was designed to provide
general information for everyone, and then featured
special sessions and break-out groups for the people who were at more advanced levels.
In addition, there was a special focus on writing
in the content areas.
