Hello.  My name is Connie Vanderhyden.  I am a new staff person in the OMSS at UW-LaCrosse.  This summer I am working with Guy Wolf and Ned Reese at the Mississippi Summer Adventure Camp.  During the school year I will be helping with the tutoring programs.  I will be working especially with the Norwalk program because I speak Spanish.  My other work right now is as Spanish teacher at Pleasant Ridge Waldorf School, Viroqua, Wisconsin.  I am married and have 3 children – young men, now, ages 17, 17 and 19.  We live in Viroqua, Wisconsin.  Besides teaching Spanish I am also the volunteer coordinator for a human rights accompaniment project in a returned refugee village in Guatemala.  I lived in the community for 3 months and now I visit every year. I also take other interested people (including students) to visit Guatemala and to understand more about the situation there.

I love to dance, cook, run, bicycle, climb mountains, plant and care for gardens, eat good organic food, visit Latin America, speak Spanish and spend time with my family and friends.
