Collaborative Grants

Since 1999, UW-L and the School District of La Crosse (SDLX) have combined resources to jointly fund a full-time Grant Writer/Development Specialist who facilitates collaborative grant projects between the University and the School District. This innovative partnership has brought nearly $8 million in external grant funding to La Crosse, which has been used to support collaborative K-12/university programs such as K-12 teacher professional development, after-school programs, joint research projects, and curriculum reform.

Amery Bodelson was hired by the University and the School District to develop collaborative programs and to author/co-author and submit grant proposals. Faculty or staff from the University or School District who are interested in seeking Amery’s assistance on a collaborative project should first submit a Grant Interest Form, which briefly describes their project idea. Amery will then meet one-on-one with interested parties to gather more details and determine whether the grant will go before the Grant Steering Committee.

The Grant Steering Committee meets regularly to review project ideas. The steering committee consists of representatives from both the University and the School District and determines which proposed projects best match the project priorities of the university and the school district. If the committee determines that the proposed project is a good match, Amery will notify the person and will begin assisting with the proposal.
