Project Review Process
The Grant Steering Committee is comprised of representation from both UW-L and the School District of La Crosse (SDLX). The Grant Steering Committee regularly reviews requests for collaborative grant writing assistance from the grant writer, Amery Bodelson, and acts on such requests. All collaborative UW-L/SDLX projects that seek to involve the grant writer must come before this Grant Steering Committee.
- Teams interested in working with Amery must complete a brief Grant Interest Form that describes their project, partners, and the collaboration involved. Teams must consist of at least one member of the SDLX and one member of the UW-L. Teams can also include collaborators from other agencies, such as neighboring school districts, local businesses, or community organizations.
- The Grant Steering Committee reviews these Grant Interest Forms and determines whether to move forward on the proposal as a collaborative project. When making decisions as to whether to approve the grant writer’s involvement, the steering committee typically considers the project priorities.
- If the Grant Steering Committee approves the request, the grant writer will provide assistance to the proposing team and will lead the proposal development and submission process. If the Grant Steering Committee denies or tables a request (i.e. asks that the group complete additional planning before moving forward), the grant writer communicates the Grant Steering Committee’s decision to the proposing faculty/staff.
Reminder: Faculty/staff who wish to propose a project for the Grant Steering Committee’s consideration are strongly encouraged to contact Amery at (608) 785-8050 or bodelson.amer@uwlax.edu before submitting their request to help ensure their concept adequately addresses the likely questions and concerns of the committee. See the Project Priorities for an idea of projects that receive higher priority.
