  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from MGHIHP (Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions) - 2006
  • MS in Kinesiology at UW-Madison - 1992
  • BS in Physical Therapy, University of IllinoisMedical Center - 1981

Research Interests:

  • Rehabilitation of adults with neurological conditions
  • Safety on discharge from acute care facilities - including Safe Patient Handling Methods, Rehabilitation and Safety Considerations
  • PT and PT Assistant models of education & clinical team development

  • Achieved APTA board certification as Neurologic Clinical Specialist (NCS) in Physical Therapy in 2008
    Wisconsin Physical Therapy presentation on Safe Patient Handling, WPTA Fall Conference 2007
  • Liaison for Wisconsin Physical Therapy - Occupation Safety and Health Association
  • Presentation at UW Systems Women & Science Conference May 2007 with Robin McCannon, OTR, MS on “Case Based Interdisciplinary Service Learning Project” with integration into classroom instruction
  • UW-L Technology Improvement Grant ($8,350) for acquisition of safe patient handling technology for instruction in assisting patients with transfers, gait, and repositioning needs.
  • UW Systems Lesson Study grant ($1,500) to assess student learning through an interactive lab with PT and PT Assistant students
  • Secretary of West Central District of Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association (current)
  • Member of advisory committee for OSHA to promote use of safe patient handling methods and authored newsletter article – “When Good Body Mechanics Fail” in PT Connections, April 2007
  • Program Director at Western Technical College Physical Therapist Assistant program (2003-2005)   
  • Participation in development of national licensure exam for PT Assistant –item writer and member of Exam Development Committee (2004-2006)
  • Chopa – Western TC Foundation grant to develop and implement “Wellness Program” for older adults involving students in four therapy programs (PT, PTA, OT, OTA) & 3 campus locations
  • Western TC Foundation grant to develop on campus training & evaluation for ergonomic safety
  • Western TC Mini-Grant recipient for “Technology in the Classroom”
