Research and Equipment > Graduate Research

The philosophy of the Physical Therapy Program is evidence based practice. Therefore, graduate students are given the opportunity to perform research projects through research practicum experiences. The research thread within the curriculum begins with research methods and instrumentation within the first year of coursework. One of the goals is to offer the students opportunities to present and/or publish findings with faculty mentors. Several student/faculty projects from research done in the lab have gone on to publication.
Recent Publications

Graduate students have presented research with faculty members at professional meetings such as the American Society of Biomechanics Meeting, the American College of Sports Medicine Meeting, Combined Sections Meeting of the American Physical Therapy Association, International Society of Biomechanics Meeting, and others.

Graduate students can get financial support for attending professional meetings associated with research activities. Information is located on the graduate program website.

Graduate students can obtain research grants for noteworthy graduate projects. Grants up to $1,500 are awarded based on the scientific merit and needs of the researcher. Details are linked to the graduate program website.

Students are encouraged to take advantage of the research opportunities that UW-La Crosse has to offer. Graduate students in Exercise and Sport Science also have thesis or graduate research opportunities with Dr. Kernozek.
