The Strzelczyk Clinical Biomechanics Laboratory was developed in
1981 with the the late Bob Strzelczyk
providing start up funds. The laboratory is housed in the
Health Science Center and is part of the Physical Therapy Program
in the Health Professions Department. The director of the
laboratory is Thomas Kernozek, Ph.D.

In the Fall of 2005, the
La Crosse Institute of Movement Science (LIMS)
was established in the College of Science and Allied Health. This
institute was formed to bring faculty and clinicians together from
campus and clinical partners toward a common goal of movement related
research and clinical practice.
Mission:
- To assist the Physical Therapy Program at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in accomplishing their objectives as a graduate program within the University system.
- To stimulate the student's ability to critically analyze clinical research questions which examine and provide information to the knowledge base of the profession.
- To promote scientific inquiry, provide service and collaboration with other faculty, clinicians and organizations within as well as outside the College and University.
- To provide multidisciplinary undergraduate research opportunities for university students.
The University of Wisconsin - La Crosse is part of the Medical Consortium in conjunction with Gundersen Lutheran, Franciscan Skemp Heathcare (part of the Mayo Healthcare system), Western Wisconsin Technical College, and Viterbo College in La Crosse, WI. Each of these partners have contributed to the new Health Science Center. The biomechanics lab space is currently 2,250 sq. ft. in size with a 65 ft. runway.

- Walking and running gait analysis
- Sports movements, such as landing and cutting
- Seating assessment
- Lower extremity biomechanics
- Orthosis and footwear design
- Therapeutic exercise
- Rehabilitation outcome studies of the shoulder and knee
- Ergonomics
