In addition to the general UW-L requirements for admission to graduate study, applicants must hold a teaching license, have at least 3 years of teaching experience, and complete a program application and personal data sheet, available from the mathematics department.
Required coursework includes six summer courses and two academic year Web-based courses.

In order to be awarded the middle school mathematics certificate, candidates must achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 in these courses and a passing score of 152 on the Praxis II Subject Assessment: Middle School Mathematics (#20069).
