Reading the Timetable

READING THE TIMETABLE

The timetable is organized alphabetically by department. Courses are listed by section, which means that the same course is offered at different times, and days, and by different faculty. You will register for your desired class by selecting a particular section and inputting the 3-letter department abbreviation, course number, and section number (i.e. ENG 110 001) . Class begin and end times are listed in military time. All classes are taught by either faculty or instructional academic staff. Staff is listed if an instructor has not been assigned yet.

The timetable does not list course prerequisites. Please refer to the Undergraduate Catalog for course descriptions for prerequisite information. TALON will not allow you to register in a course for which you do not meet the prerequisite.

Some classes have special course fees or require purchases. Those that require students to spend more than $20 are so noted.

COURSE TYPES

SLASH COURSES are undergraduate/graduate courses which are only open to juniors who have earned 60 credits, seniors, and graduate students. Slash course are designated in the schedule with an asterisk (*).

GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES are courses that fulfill General Education requirements and are designated in the schedule with (^).

WRITING EMPHASIS COURSES are courses which contain a strong writing element. Two writing emphasis courses are required as part of General Education. These courses are designated in the schedule with (!). All sections of the same course may not be writing emphasis .

DISTANCE EDUCATION COURSES are courses that either originate on our campus and include other receive sites, or originate from another campus, and UWL is a receive site. Distance education courses are designated in the schedule with (+).
