You
must pay a $100 non-refundable deposit (and any past bills) before you can
register for Summer, Fall or Spring Semester. If you do not pay these fees, your registration cannot be processed.
The $100 applies to your future term tuition. The deposit may be sent to UW-L
Cashier’s Office, 1725 State St, La Crosse, WI 54601, or you can pay on-line
at: www.uwlax.edu/cashiers.
J-term does not require a $100 deposit.
UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE-SEEKING STUDENTS (Enrolledin the current)
Future semester/term registration for currently enrolled undergraduate degree-seeking students is based on "registration credits". (number of credits earned, plus the number of credits in progress). Students with the most "registration credits" are assigned the first registration appointment based on their class schedule for their assigned day. See "Important Dates and Deadlines" or look in your TALON "Academic Profile" for your assigned time.
NEW
FRESHMEN
New freshmen
will have the opportunity to meet with an adviser and submit a proposed fall
schedule. More information is sent directly to new freshmen.
SECOND-DEGREE
STUDENTS
Students who have earned a baccalaureate degree
from UW-La Crosse or any other regionally accredited institution, and wish to
fulfill requirements for another undergraduate degree, are considered
"second-degree students". Students
who have never attended UW-L, must obtain and return a completed UW System
Application for Undergraduate Admission and a $35.00 application fee to the
Office of Admissions, 115 Graff Main Hall. Former UW-L students must obtain and
return the completed application to the Office of Records and Registration, 117
Graff Main Hall. Students also can complete and submit the application on-line
at www.apply.wisconsin.edu.
Accepted second-degree students register
using the TALON system. A $100 non-refundable deposit and any past bills must be paid before
registering.
TRANSFER
AND RE-ENTRY STUDENTS
Students must be admitted before they can register.
Registration will be done on the Web via the TALON system according to the
registration schedule and instructions . SNAP reports will be
sent with admission letters. A $100 deposit and any past bills must be paid
before registering.
SPECIAL
(NON-DEGREE) STUDENTS
Special students must complete an application form if not currently enrolled. Students who have never been enrolled at UW-L need to contact the Admissions Office at (608) 785-8939. Students who have attended UW-L previously, need to contact the Records and Registration Office at (608) 785-8951. See Important Dates and Deadlines for the date special students can begin to register.

Graduate students should see their graduate program
director. Graduate students NOT enrolled in the
prior term
should apply for reentry admission, by calling Records and Registration at (608)
785-8951, prior to registration. A $100 non-refundable deposit and any past bills must be paid
before registering.
CONTINUING
EDUCATION AND EXTENSION STUDENTS (CEE)
Students enrolling in CEE credit courses (courses
with 700 section numbers) may register using the TALON system if currently
enrolled. Students who have never been enrolled at UW-L, or who have been
enrolled previously need to contact CEE, at (608) 785-6507 to obtain an
application form.
Students may register for CEE courses until one day before the start of each class. However, decisions about whether the class will be held or not are usually made one week before the start date based on the enrollment at that time. A $100 deposit and any past bills must be paid before registering.
GRADUATE
STUDENTS IN A PROGRAM
should see their graduate program director beginning November 8 for advising and
registration for Spring semester. Graduate
students must pay a $100 non-refundable deposit before registering or being
registered. All tuition and fee
balances from previous semesters must be paid before the registration will be
processed.
Depending on which program you are in, you either will complete the registration form and leave it with your program director or you will be encouraged to use the TALON system at www.uwlax.edu/current.htm. .
GRADUATE
SPECIALS
register using the TALON system beginning December 13, 2004.
Those “special non‑degree students” enrolling to meet DPI requirements
should direct questions to the Teacher Certification Office, 220 Thomas Morris

ACADEMIC
POLICIES
Graduate students should read the
University Graduate Catalog thoroughly for information pertaining to
requirements for graduate studies and specific programs. Not all policies are
applicable to undergraduate and graduate students alike.
Please refer to the catalog for specific policy information. For example:
1.
A
course is successfully completed if a grade of “C” (or better) or “P” is
earned.
2.
Repetition
of graduate courses is not allowed.
3. Students who have completed all degree requirements except the capstone experience must register for GRC 799 (0 credits) each semester and summer until it is finished. This semester’s fee is $235.
DROP/ADD
Graduate students who wish to drop/add
classes prior to the start of the term may do so using the TALON system anytime
after their initial registration. Please
see page 7 of this timetable
for instructions. After Friday,
January 27, graduates need the instructor's signature to drop/add a course.
Please bring the signed drop/add form to the Office of Records and Registration,
117 Graff Main Hall. See the graduate catalog for other academic policies and
start-up information.
TEXTBOOKS
Graduate students are required to
purchase textbooks for all courses that are for graduate students only (all 700
level and selected others). Students enrolled in slash courses
(graduate/undergraduate) or undergraduate courses may be able to rent textbooks
for a fee of $8.25 per credit. This
rental fee must be paid at Textbook Service before checking out textbooks.
Non-degree graduate students taking undergraduate courses have paid a textbook
rental fee in their tuition and fees, thus, they will not be required to pay
additional fees to rent books for undergraduate courses.
CONTINUING
EDUCATION
Continuing Education and Extension
offers courses for professionals, frequently at off‑campus sites. Call
Continuing Education and Education and Extension at (608) 785‑6507 for
more information.
THESIS/SEMINAR
PAPER APPROVAL
The deadline to submit college-approved
theses and seminar papers to Vijendra Agarwal, Director of Graduate Studies, for
approval is two weeks before graduation.
