Upward Bound is a federally funded program for low income and/or first generation college bound high school students. It is funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and is one of the TRIO programs created by Congress to help students overcome educational, social, cultural and financial barriers to higher education. Services include weekly tutoring and advising, monthly Saturday activities, college visits, career exploration, and a six-week summer residential program. Funded at UWL since 1979, the program serves eligible students from La Crosse, Jackson and Monroe counties.
