PUBLIC NOTICE
DRAFT EIS AND PUBLIC MEETING
NEW UW-L RESIDENCE HALL

The State of Wisconsin has retained Ayres Associates to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for a new Residence Hall on the UW-La Crosse campus in accordance with sec. 1.11 Wis. Stats. and UW System guidelines.

A public meeting to present the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed UW-La Crosse New Residence Hall project will be held by representatives of UW-La Crosse, University Housing, University of Wisconsin System Administration, the Division of State Facilities, Ayres Associates and the A/E design team on campus at 5:30 pm on Tueday, July 14th, 2009, in the Port O' Call Room, Cartwright Center. A description of the project will be presented, and all persons will be afforded a reasonable opportunity to identify both orally and in writing any support, issues, or concerns they believe should be addressed in the Final Record of Decision for this proposed project.

The proposed project will construct a New Residence Hall at the north end of Coate field on the northwest area of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse campus. The building is proposed to consist of a Silver LEED certified, five-story, 212,500 gross square feet (GSF) 500-bed Residence Hall. Resident rooms will be clustered around living areas and arranged in "houses" of 26-30 students with one Resident Advisor. Other areas designed for occupants include socialization areas such as lounges, study rooms, a computer lab, game room and laundry. Additionally, the new residence hall will contain the UW-L Office of Residence Life.

The intent of the EIS is to identify the potential positive and negative impacts of the project to the physical, biological, social, and economic environments.

The Final EIS Document is available for public review and comment. Copies of the EIS are available at the UW-La Crosse Murphy Library and City of La Crosse Public Library (Main Library) and online at http://www.ayresprojectinfo.com/UWL-New-Residence-Hall-EIS/. Please submit your comments in writing by July 14th, 2009 for incorporation into the Final Record of Decision to:
