Special Assignments and Committees
 

All professional staff members including our graduate students are part of departmental committees or special assignments. Committee work gives individuals excellent experience to broaden their skill base while working collaboratively with a group of their peers. Special assignments allow similar professional growth opportunities where a Hall Director member will work in partnership with a central staff member to complete their assignment work. Newly hired Hall Directors are asked to rank their preferences for departmental committees and special assignments and are notified of their assignment shortly thereafter. Committee members are offered opportunities to chair student committees with similar purposes.

RHAC and Residence Hall Government Coordinator
Assignment responsibilities…

This individual serves as an advisor to the Residence Hall Association Council (RHAC). They develop, plan, and implement leadership workshops for RHAC members. They facilitate student development through leadership skills and through government process. The assignment also includes advising one of the RHAC committees, either Specific Issues or Activities & Relations.
Summer Conference Program and Facilities Coordinator
Assignment responsibilities…

Working with the Office of Residence Life, Continuing Education and Extension, Athletics, and other interested departments, this individual helps to coordinate the Summer Conference program. This includes assisting with arranging building use; selection, hiring, and training of summer staff; planning summer socials; and developing a summer communication link. In addition, this individual assists the Assistant Director of Facilities with development, planning, and refinement of current-year and three-year plans for major and minor projects. Advising the Student Facilities Committee and coordinating the development of a preventative maintenance program are part of this assignment.
