The UW-L summer program is comprised of four distinct operations: summer conference housing, work crew, housekeeping staff, and summer school housing.
Job Description
Conference Assistants: Throughout the course of the summer, many camps and conferences make UW-L their home for anywhere from one day to many weeks. Most residence halls host these conferences during the summer and a staff is hired to perform the related duties of providing a positive, customer service oriented experience for camp participants.
Work crew: Summer is a major time for repairs and renovations to residence hall facilities, and an integral part of those activities is the work crew. Their responsibilities include all painting of residence hall rooms and common areas, moving new and old furniture as well as minor housekeeping tasks as needed around campus.
Housekeeping staff: In addition to the repairs and renovations, all residence hall rooms and common areas receive a thorough 'deep cleaning' over the course of the summer. Each housekeeper in the residence halls has a student assistant for the summer. The summer housekeeper assistant works alongside their housekeeper to move furniture, strip and wax floors, clean windows, and other general cleaning tasks around the hall.
Summer school housing: One hall is open each summer for those students attending summer session. Resident assistants are hired for that hall and perform the duties of an RA in a summer setting. Traditionally, but not exclusively, these RAs have been RAs for residence life prior to applying for this position.
