Summer Program
 

The UW-L summer program is comprised of four different work opportunities: Summer Assistant, Assistant Housekeeper, Facility Specialist Assistant, and Work Crew.

Applications are due to the Office of Residence Life (Eagle Hall) no later than February 6, 2013, at 4:00pm. When turning in your application, you MUST sign up for a SA interview time. Failure to sign up for an interview time will result in an incomplete application and the applicant will not be considered. Everyone is guaranteed an interview. There are a limited number of interview times, so turn in your application early to ensure an interview time will work for your schedule.



Summer Assistant (SA): The Summer Assistant is an important part of our summer staff. The Office of Residence Life will host a variety of camps and conferences and will also house summer school students. The SA is responsible for making our residents and our guests stay in our halls remarkable. The SA position is a combination of the Resident Assistant (assisting residents, building community and enforcing policies) and the Conference Assistant (preparing the hall for a camp/conference, providing overnight duty coverage, and assisting camp/conference staff as needed) positions. Most importantly, the SA provides positive customer service to all who stay in our halls during the summer. The SA will work on a team of 6-8 SAs and 1-2 hall directors.

Assistant Housekeeper (AHK): In addition to the repairs and renovations, all residence hall rooms and common areas receive a thorough 'deep cleaning' over the course of the summer. Each housekeeper in the residence halls has a student assistant for the summer. The summer housekeeper assistant works alongside their housekeeper to move furniture, strip and wax floors, clean windows, and other general cleaning tasks around the hall.

Facility Specialist Assistant (FSA):The Facilities Specialist Assistant works with the Facilities Specialist in a preventative maintenance capacity.  Duties include minor electrical work, maintenance of equipment, installation of air conditioners, removal of light fixtures, vacuuming of room and bathroom vent units, and other assignments as deemed necessary.  Previous maintenance experience helpful, but not necessary.

Work Crew (WC): Summer is a major time for repairs and renovations to residence hall facilities, and an integral part of those activities is the work crew. Their responsibilities include all painting of residence hall rooms and common areas, moving new and old furniture as well as minor housekeeping tasks as needed around campus.
