The following is a brief description of the roles and responsibilities of our cadet battalion staff. The information is a combination of realistic duties related to position, and our current roles as cadet staff within our battalion.

| BC Battalion Commander |
Makes all final decisions. Attends cadre staff meetings. Is ultimately responsible for all happenings within the BN. | CDT McCaigue |
| XO Executive Officer |
The principal officer; assistant to the BC/CO. Coordinates all Primary and Special staff. Runs the staff meetings. Ensures all staff is functioning efficiently and promptly. The BC delegates a great deal of responsibility relating to direct staff coordination to the XO. Ensures the BC/CO's guidance is being implemented in all planning and training. Develops and monitors staff operating policies. |

| CSM Cadet Sergeant Major |
Principal advisor to the BC regarding all "enlisted" cadets (MS I, II, & III). Enforces the standard in execution, appearance & bearing, and in operating procedures, primarily with the MS III's and below. The only "enlisted" member of the battalion staff. Maintains morale and welfare of the BN. |

CO Company Commander (Winona State) |
The CO is responsible for the detachment in Winona. Acts, essentially, as the BC would for a smaller group. Is directly accountable to the BC. |

| S1 Personnel Officer |
S1 maintains the manning roster, BN contact roster, and is the main distributor of information to the staff. Advises the BC in all personnel related matters. Ensures the standard for evaluations is being reflected in the blue and yellow cards. | CDT Hamilton

| S3 Operations & Training Officer |
Advises the BC in all planning, training, operations, and security of the BN. Supervises all implementation of plans and orders. Sets and reviews the standard operating procedures. S3 is responsible for all operations orders and planning. S3 also coordinates directly with all of the special projects officers. The S3 must develop and maintain the task organization for all operations. The S3 runs the training meetings (IPRs). Prepares contingency plans. Delegates to the SPOs. *S3 is currently divided into operations and training. S3T deals primarily with week to week labs and class design. S3O is directly responsible for all "real world" operations (i.e. FTX, etc.) S3O is ultimately responsible for both training and operations. |

| S4
Logistics Officer |
S4 provides technical supervision for all support operations. S4 coordinates with the cadre supply personnel. The S4 is responsible for procurement and set up of all equipment necessary for training. Issuance of all OCIE goes through the S4. All classes of supply fall under the jurisdiction of the S4 (including food plans). Develops movement plans for all modes of transportation. | CDT TBA |
| S5
Civilian-Military Operations Officer |
The S5 serves as a link between military operations and civilian personnel. All public relations are taken care of by the S5, including advertising, press releases, interviews, and anything else similar. *We currently have an S5 for each university cadets are attending within the BN. |
CDT Kies |
| S6 Signal Officer |
Responsible for all tasks related to communications and electronics (technology). Conducts network management and maintenance, to include equipment. Maintains the BN local area network (computer lab). Maintains the BN web site. Advises the commander and staff on all communications matters. | CDT TBA |
| Special Staff | Special staff officers help the commander and other members of the staff in their professional or technical functional areas. Special staff positions are specific to each individual BN. |

| Physical Training Officer | Designs the physical training calendar. Facilitates APFT. Maintains a duty roster for Monday and Wednesday PT monitors. Responsible for coordinating with MS III leadership to ensure appropriate planning of all physical training sessions. Must be the resident expert when it comes to BN PT execution. | CDT Chomilo |
| Academics |
Ensures cadets have access to means necessary to maintain an appropriate GPA. Formulates and maintains a major specific tutor contact roster. * There is currently a nurse academics officer. This position is the same, only specific to the nurses and their coursework. |

| BN Nurse Advisor (S-2) | Ensures staffing of BN aid station. Serves as a representative for the nursing cadets at the staff meetings. | CDT Hanson |
| Retention | Ensures that collectively, the BN is doing all it can to recruit new cadets and retain current cadets. Ensures quality cadets are encouraged to continue to participate actively in the BN through promotion and provision of opportunity to excel. | TBA |
| SPO
(Special Project Officer) |
Each operation has an individual assigned to it, deemed the special project officer. The SPO coordinates with all necessary cadre and cadet BN staff to ensure all pieces to his or her assigned operation come together. The SPO writes the initial OPORD, and publishes the final OPORD to the BN. | TBA |
