Major
Bob Divney was born in Portland, Maine on 5 May 1967. He was raised
in Colebrook, New Hampshire where his parents still reside. He
graduated from Colebrook Academy in 1985. MAJ Divney earned an Army
ROTC scholarship at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In
1989, he graduated from Marquette with a B.S. degree in Marketing. MAJ Divney was a Distinguished Military Graduate and commissioned as
a Lieutenant in the Transportation Corps that same year.
MAJ Divney entered active duty in 1990 as a second Lieutenant and
attended the Transportation Officer Basic Course, Fort Eustis,
Virginia. Following the basic course, he attended Airborne school at
Fort Benning, Georgia. From there, MAJ Divney was assigned as a
platoon leader with the 109th Transportation Company (POL),
Mannheim, Germany.
While assigned to the 109th Transportation Company, MAJ Divney
deployed to Southwest Asia in support of Operations Desert Shield,
Storm, and Provide Comfort. After being promoted to first Lieutenant
in 1992, he performed the duties of executive officer for the 377th
Transportation Company (Heavy Truck), Mannheim, Germany. He
participated in numerous training exercises (including Dragon Hammer
'92 and '93) and retrograde operations (Steel Box and Steel Pipe)
throughout the European theater.
MAJ Divney returned to the States in 1993 and was assigned to the
United States Army Garrison, Fort Devens, Massachusetts, as the
Headquarters, Headquarters Detachment executive officer. In 1994,
MAJ Divney was promoted to Captain and assigned to the Environmental
Management Office to perform the duties as the installation's Chief,
Environmental Compliance Inspector.
Following his assignment at Fort Devens, MAJ Divney attended the
Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course at Fort Lee, Virginia.
His next assignment was with 330th Corps Movement Control Center,
1st COSCOM, Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he performed the duties
as the Plans, Programs, and Operations Officer, from 1995-1997. MAJ
Divney participated in Combined Joint Task Force '96 (Purple Star),
numerous XVIII Airborne Corps Warfighter exercises, and Hurricane
Fran relief activities.
In 1998, MAJ Divney left active duty to pursue a career in
transportation with Schneider National Inc., Green Bay, Wisconsin.
During this time, he joined the 332nd Support Center (Rear Area
Operating Center), WI-ARNG, Berlin, Wisconsin and served as the
assistant Plans Officer. He has also served as Commander, HHC, 173d
Engineer Battalion (Mechanized) and Commander, B Company, 426th
Regiment (OCS), WIARNG. MAJ Divney deployed with the HHC, 32nd
Infantry Brigade in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He now
serves as the 426th Regiment’s Logistics Officer.
MAJ Divney's military education includes Basic Airborne School, NBC
Warfare, Transportation Officer Basic Course, Combined Logistics
Officer Advanced Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff
School, and the Command and General Staff Officer Course.
MAJ Divney's awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army
Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Navy and Marine
Corps Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with one oak leaf
cluster, Southwest Asia Service Medal with three campaign stars,
Humanitarian Service Medal, Saudi Arabia - Kuwait Liberation Medal,
Kuwait - Kuwait Liberation Medal, Basic Parachutist Badge, and the
Meritorious Unit Citation.
MAJ Divney's wife's name is Jenny. They have two children, Sarah and
John. His areas of interest include spending time with his family,
home brewing, running, and military history.
