On Campus Degree Program
How to Apply
Please note: We are no longer accepting applications for the 2008-09 academic year for the On-Campus program.
The application process for the SAA On-Campus program involves the following steps:
- Complete the electronic SAA On-Campus Application form. Please make sure to include your city, state, and zip code on the address line. Note: Some applicants have had technical problems with sending their application form. At the end of the form, when you press "done," you should get a "thank you" and a few other notes. If the screen goes blank when you press "done," it did not go through and you will have to try again (sorry). Our ITS staff is trying to fix this but let Teresa know if you continue to have problems sending your application.
- Email your writing sample (see instructions below) and your resume as an attachment to znidarsi.tere@uwlax.edu on the same day that you submit your SAA Application form. Note: as of January 2nd, Teresa Znidarsich is assisting with the On-Campus admissions process. If you already sent your info to Jodie Rindt, it will be forwarded to Teresa.
- Complete the Office of Graduate Studies Electronic Application. The SAA Program cannot officially extend an offer of acceptance until applicants have been admitted to the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse through the Office of Graduate Studies. When applying, please be sure to send official transcripts from all institutions ever attended (undergraduate, graduate, and any courses earned from a college/university while in high school) per the instructions in the Graduate Studies application.
- Three letters of recommendation should be emailed by your references to znidarsi.tere@uwlax.edu by the application deadline of February 1st to make sure your application is complete. Please use these same references in the Graduate Studies application (you don't need to come up with new ones). The letters may be addressed to the "SAA Admissions Committee."
SAA Writing Sample Instructions
Please address the following question: How have you contributed (or how would you like to contribute) to the field of student affairs in higher education? Your response should be a maximum of 3 pages, double-spaced, using 12 point font. Be sure to include your name and date on your paper.
Note
Application materials for the SAA On-Campus program will be accepted beginning December 1st. SAA application materials are due by February 1st for admission for the following fall. All materials must be submitted before the SAA Admissions Committee will consider your application.
We thank you for your interest in our program and look forward to receiving your application! We will start processing applications after December 1st and will be in touch with you via email. The SAA Admissions Committee will begin reviewing applications after the February 1st deadline.
What happens next?
When we have received all of your application materials, we'll email you to let you know that your application is complete. After the February 1st deadline, the SAA Admissions Committee will go through the applications to determine who will be invited to UW-L for the interviewing process for admission to the program and possible graduate assistantship positions. You will be contacted regarding an interview during the last two weeks in February. Interviews will take place on March 7th, 10th, 14th and 24th. Offers to join the SAA program will be extended in late March. If you are extended an offer, you will have a few weeks to accept the offer. Individuals may be put on a waiting list and will be extended offers as space allows. Hopefully, this whole process will be completed in early April.
