General Education Requirements (48 Credits).
DEPARTMENTAL POLICIES
- Students must follow the course sequences set up by the department.
- Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in all required Health Education courses and the following Science Courses: MIC 100 OR BIO 103/105; ESS 205 and 206.
- Students can make application to the program only after they have earned 48 semester hours of credit and have met all departmental requirements (including GPA).
- In the semester prior to Student Teaching, students must
simultaneously take SHE 410 and SHE 415.
- School Health Education majors and minors must meet the
following additional requirements:
- Apply for admission to Teacher Education;
- Achieve a minimum of 2.75 cumulative GPA to be admitted to Teacher Education;
- Successfully complete the PPST by achieving the following minimum scores: Reading 175, Math 173, Writing 174;
- Achieve a minimum 2.75 GPA in professional preparation courses and the major or minor course sequence to Student Teach;
- Successfully complete the PRAXIS II by achieving a passing score of 610 prior to Student Teaching;
- Successfully complete the Preparing to Teach Portfolio must be proficient prior to Student Teaching;
- Achieve a cumulative 2.75 GPA and successfully complete department exit exam administered by the School Health Education faculty to be licensed by the state to teach.
