Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
The
cardiac rehabilitation unit is designed for individuals who have known
heart disease, have had a cardiac event such as a heart attack or bypass
surgery, or are at high risk for developing coronary disease. We work
closely with each participant's personal physician and our goal is to
provide each member with an individualized program of exercise and risk
factor modification. The program is staffed by energetic, qualified
graduate students from the Clinical Exercise Physiology masters program.
In addition, our facility is equipped with emergency medical equipment
should the need arise.
Members receive periodic exercise evaluations, up-dated exercise prescriptions, monthly progress reports, and information about reducing coronary risk factors. They also have access to a wide variety of exercise facilities, including a 200 meter cushioned indoor tack, stationary cycles, a heated swimming pool, elliptical trainers, treadmills, rowing machines, and weight training equipment.
Primary
program hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings from 3:30-5:45
p.m. With prior physician approval, members can exercise with the
morning Adult Fitness program (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings
from 5:00-7:00 a.m.).
Rates are currently $320 per year or $190 for a 6-month membership. Spouses pay 1/2 the regular fee. Faculty and staff rates are also available.
