2013 CONTINUING EDUCATION
The La Crosse Exercise and Health Program, in affiliation with the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, Mayo Clinic Health System, the American Council on Exercise, and NuStep, is proud to announce its 38th consecutive year of Continuing Education Workshops. This year we have also partnered with the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) to offer our Comprehensive Cardiac Rehabilitation workshop.
This year we will only be offering one cardiac rehabilitation workshop. We have also moved the date of the workshop to April, instead of September. At this time, we will not be offering a pulmonary rehabilitation workshop or an EKG workshop. Decreasing attendance over the last several years has forced us to rethink how and when we offer those workshops.
As for our cardiac rehabilitation workshop we are excited about our new partnership with AACVPR. For many years, the AACVPR membership has voiced the need for a workshop that covers the core components involved in setting up and running a successful cardiac rehabilitation program. Rather than “reinvent the wheel”, AACVPR has partnered with UWL to fill this void. Over the years our Comprehensive Cardiac Rehabilitation workshop has continued to be popular. We attribute that to the quality of our speakers. Every one of the speakers is actively involved in the field and work with patients on a daily basis. Additionally, every one of the speakers is involved at the state or national level in their professional organizations, most times in leadership positions. More importantly, they are eager and willing to share their expertise with you.
Historically, our workshops have been very popular and very well received. Our workshops are continually updated to bring you the latest in practical information relating to program design and administration, exercise programming, and patient support services. Whether you're from a small or large hospital, a beginner or a veteran, you'll find these workshops helpful. Here's what some past attendees had to say:
"The facility and staff were wonderful. All speakers had positive attitudes and were passionate about the field. Everyone should attend this workshop before setting up or working in a program." - Tami Ruhl, RRT
"The highlight of the workshop was the La Crosse Faculty. highly educated - down to earth people (a rare combination)." - Shelley Chaney, RN
"It was a privilege to learn from "the best." It was very beneficial and inspirational in every aspect." - Carolyn Rake, RN
"The entire staff is pro-learning, pro-teaching, and pro-students. Thanks for all your efforts." - Beth Ann Johnsey, PT
"The highlight of the workshop was the comprehensive knowledge imparted on specific cardiac rehabilitation problems. You learn what works and what doesn't. Great. Tremendous. Wonderful program." - Mary Hanrahan, RN
"Lots of great information. Received sample tools and forms that I can use right now." - Whitney Wilkenson, RRT
