Continuing Education Workshops-Welcome

2009 CONTINUING EDUCATION

The La Crosse Exercise and Health Program, in affiliation with the Gundersen Lutheran Heart Institute and Franciscan Skemp Healthcare, is proud to announce its 34th consecutive year of Continuing Education Workshops. This year's workshops are also partially funded by NuStep.

Last year was one of the most successful years we have ever had in terms of our workshop attendance. We attribute that to the quality of our speakers. Every one of the speakers is actively involved in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and works with patients on a daily basis. They are eager and willing to share their expertise with you. Additionally, every one of the speakers is involved at the state or national level in their professional associations, most times in leadership positions. This ensures that the information you receive is as current and as up-to-date as possible.

Once again we will be offering two Cardiac Rehab workshops and one Pulmonary Rehab workshop. Our workshops are continually updated to bring you the latest in practical information relating to program design and administration, exercise programming, and patient support services. Whether you're from a small or large hospital, a beginner or a veteran, you'll find these workshops helpful. Here's what some past attendees had to say:

"The facility and staff were wonderful. All speakers had positive attitudes and were passionate about the field. Everyone should attend this workshop before setting up or working in a program." - Tami Ruhl, RRT

"The highlight of the workshop was the La Crosse Faculty. highly educated - down to earth people (a rare combination)." - Shelley Chaney, RN

"It was a privilege to learn from "the best." It was very beneficial and inspirational in every aspect." - Carolyn Rake, RN

"The entire staff is pro-learning, pro-teaching, and pro-students. Thanks for all your efforts." - Beth Ann Johnsey, PT

"The highlight of the workshop was the comprehensive knowledge imparted on specific cardiac rehabilitation problems. You learn what works and what doesn't. Great. Tremendous. Wonderful program." - Mary Hanrahan, RN

"Lots of great information. Received sample tools and forms that I can use right now." - Whitney Wilkenson, RRT

"Excellent workshop and host site. Worth every penny!!" - Jamie Legan Leon, RN

And just a reminder - on the Sunday preceding each of our Cardiac Rehabilitation workshops, there will be a one-day EKG seminar. The 8-hour course is designed to give you a better understanding of interpreting the full 12-lead EKG, including rhythm recognition, axis determination, heart blocks, the evolving myocardial infarction, cardiac hypertrophy, an interpreting ST segment responses to exercise.

The La Crosse Exercise and Health Program, the Gundersen Lutheran Heart Institute, and Franciscan Skemp Healthcare invite you to attend these informative workshops and enjoy the beautiful Coulee Region of La Crosse. If you have any questions, please feel free to call (608) 785-8683.

Sincerely.
