The First Steps to Starting Your
Art Business
In a small group setting, we will review the basics of starting,
organizing and operating your art business and identifying the
next steps. You will learn the basic government regulations,
record keeping and tax issues.
When: March 14, 2012 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p. m.
Where: UW-La Crosse campus
Individual session $35 or sign up for the series of all 3 sessions for $90 ($30 each). Must register for all sessions at the same time to qualify for the discount rate.
Marketing Basics for Artists I
This class is designed to help you understand the importance
of marketing for your art business.
You will learn how to produce artwork for profit, document and
price your work, choose your target market, analyze the
competition, and learn sales techniques.
When: March 28, 2012 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p. m.
Where: UW-La Crosse campus

Marketing Basics for Artists II
In this workshop you will learn how to design effective
promotional materials, (business cards, build portfolio, write
effective artist statement, bio, etc.) You will learn how to
effectively promote your exhibitions and other events, improve
your presentations, and introduce your art to the right people:
patrons, gallery owners, interior designers, etc. We will also
briefly discuss ways to expand the areas of income generating
through publishing, bartering, leasing and licensing art.
When: April 11, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p. m.

Learning Community of Artists: Best Business Practices Program
Designed to empower visual artists from all
disciplines to take the next step in building sustainable art
businesses. Discussion rather than lecture based format. Teaches
both theory and hands-on skills with an emphasis on interactive
