Supervisory Management Certificate Program

The Supervisory Management Certificate Program is designed for managers with supervisory responsibilities. The concepts and skills taught are also relevant to all who work with people in a team environment. Whether you own your own business, or work in an office, at an agency, in a health care facility, or manufacturing plant, you will find the seminars applicable in your environment.

Frequently Asked Questions  

Our electives will be half-day sessions this spring.  The electives are scheduled back-to-back on one day.  Participants may choose to attend just one session or both sessions.  A participant who is earning the certificate must have 6 full days of electives plus the three core seminars.  Two half-day electives equal 1 full-day elective.  The core seminars are hybrid: two online sessions, plus 4 hours asynchronous to work on assignments, and the final day is a one-day in person session.  The fee for the core seminars is $489 each.  The fee for the half-day electives is $139 each.  Discounts are available.*

Registration fee includes seminar, materials, and lunch (for all-day, in person sessions).  You can register for upcoming seminars through Events/Workshops, call our office at 608.785.8783, or send us a message.

*Discounts available:

Early Bird: If you register over 10 days in advance of the seminar, you can receive an Early Bird Discount. Use coupon code EB10.

3 or More Registrations:  Get a discount for registering 3 or more people from your organization or for registering for 3 or more seminars.  Use coupon code SM3+.  

Full Day: if you register for both half-day electives, you can use coupon code FD to pay $124.50 for each elective.

One discount code applies per registration.  You may cancel or transfer your registration up to seven business days before the start date for a full refund. If you do not show or cancel the day of the event, you are responsible for the full fee. SUPERVISORY MANAGEMENT CORE SEMINARS

These seminars provide an overview of management basics. They address the challenges you face as you make the transition into management and they lay a foundation for the other seminars.  Those working toward earning the Supervisory Management certificate must complete Supervisory Management One, Two, and Three along with six full-day elective seminars.

Supervisory Management 1

Supervisory managers are uniquely positioned to influence and impact performance provided they have the right skills and knowledge.  Learn how you can make the transition to your new role smoother and less stressful.  Explore leadership styles, motivation techniques, and coaching strategies.  Instructor: Scott Dickmeyer

Supervisory Management 2

Leadership development resumes in four key areas (1) orienting people to your work unit; (2) understanding your communication behaviors; (3) managing time; and (4) using delegation as a development tool. We build on the leadership skills learned from Supervisory Management One and focus on maintaining a productive work group. Choose the session that best fits your busy schedule. Supervisory Management 3

Communicating clear, specific expectations to your people is critical to operational effectiveness. Giving feedback during day-to-day coaching sessions as well as during formal performance reviews is an essential skill. We discuss why there is resistance to performance assessment, how to establish job expectations and how to conduct productive coaching sessions.  Instructor: Scott Dickmeyer

Supervisory Management Elective Seminars

We offer a variety of specialized seminars, each addressing a specific management concern. You may take any of these seminars prior to, during the same time frame, or after completing the required core seminars. Go to the Events/Workshops and specify Topic: Managing Employees, Time Range: One Year, and click Search.  

Improving Work Ethic and Personal Responsibility

This session covers over twenty common workplace abuses and unethical behaviors and discusses how to make improvements. This session is especially helpful for: new hires, supervisors, leads, students, managers, or as an all-employee training retreat. Numerous case studies and eye-opening stories illustrate the principles presented. Help yourself and your organization become ethically healthy!

Conflict Resolution with the Empathy Method  

Nothing can undermine team productivity like unresolved, festering conflict! It creates undertow in the team and prevents it from high performance. This session provides a proven, multi-step empathy method for resolving individual and team conflict. Through several interactive case studies and thoughtful small group class participation, participants will understand how to get to the root cause of conflict and how to resolve it quickly. Several case studies dealing with: big ego, passive aggressive behavior, sarcasm, apathy, isolationism, and fear of change, highlight this very interactive session. Boost your confidence in handling conflict!
