The purpose of the Division of Student Affairs Staff Recognition
Program is to recognize colleagues within the Division for
outstanding achievements, special contributions, and involvement
in the profession. The program provides an opportunity for
staff members in the Division to nominate and acknowledge
co-workers and graduate students by completing a brief survey
regarding their efforts throughout the year.
The Recognition Program Subcommittee will review the
nominations and recognize individuals for their contributions
shortly after they are received.
Nominations forms
are encouraged throughout the year but are due no later than
May 8, 2012. All
nominations will be reviewed collectively after May 8 to
determine winners of the overall Division awards described
below. All nominees
throughout the year and overall award recipients will be
recognized at the end of the year Division celebration.
Certificates will also be awarded for each 5 years of
service to UW-L.
Outstanding Achievement Award for New Staff
(less than five years service completed)
Nominees must:

Excel in participation of programs and services
within their own department, the Division of
Student Affairs and
UW-L -
Have demonstrated commitment to the mission and

Award for Special Contributions
Nominees must:

responsibility not included in their job
description and done well

quality of life at UW-L out of the
ordinary realm of Student Affairs activities
Award for Outstanding Involvement in the Profession
Nominees must:
-
Be a current institutional or individual member
of one or more professional associations
(national, regional, statewide, local) and have
maintained that membership for at least three
years
-
Have significant responsibilities in at least
one association committee membership, volunteer
position, or leadership position
-
Make specific and significant contributions to
the advancement of the association (to be judged
on quality rather than quantity)
-

recognition given by professional organization
published material appearing in association
journal or newsletter
Graduate Student Award
This award is presented to a graduate assistant that has made a
meaningful difference in the education of students. This person
inspires students to achieve by being more than a mentor; they
are also a guide and a role model. What makes this person
exceptional is their willingness to make themselves available to
meet the needs of students. They are respected, flexible and a
joy to work with.
Criteria:
§
May be nominated by any student, faculty or staff
§ Must be pursuing a master’s degree
§
Must be a UW-L student and have a good academic and disciplinary
standing
§ Must work in, or have an affiliation with, the Division of Student Affairs
§
May receive this award only once during
their tenure at UW-L
Dean’s Award
At any time, the Dean of Students may grant the Dean’s
Award. This award is to be given at the sole discretion of the
Dean.
Certificates of Service
For each 5 years of service to UW-L,
employees will be given a certificate of service signed by the
Assistant Chancellor & Dean of Students. Any employment at UW-L
would count towards the years of service. Individual will
consider what their own years of service are. Certificates
awarded at the end of the year.
