Meeting Minutes and Schedule
Fall Schedule:
Friday, September 14th, Intramural Fields 2:30pm
First interactive event of the year. Play kickball
and have a burger on us while you get to know other SMA members!
Tuesday, September 25th, 2305 Centennial Hall 7pm
First classroom meeting of the year. It is an
opportunity to meet the officers, new members and learn about
the direction of SMA. We will be taking any questions about
application to the Sport Management program.
Thursday, October 18th, La Crosse Center 7pm
The Milwaukee Bucks are in town facing the Memphis
Grizzlies for a preseason exhibition game! Join your other SMA
members at the game for only $7! Purchase your tickets through
SMA to ensure you'll get to sit together.
Tuesday, October 30th, 2305 Centennial Hall 7pm
Our guest speaker will be Kate Burke, the External
Relations Coordinator for the UW-L Athletic Department. She will
be talking about her first impressions of UW-L, and how she got
here.
Tuesday, November 27th, 2305 Centennial Hall 7pm
We will be welcoming the General Manager for the
2012 NWL Champion La Crosse Loggers Chris Goodell to our
meeting! Chris will be talking about what he does, and how he
got to where he is today. He will also talk extensively about
their internship program over the summer! If you're looking for
a great resume building internship, attendance is strongly
encouraged!
Tuesday, December 4th, 2305 Centennial Hall 7pm
We are very happy to welcome UW-La
Crosse's Athletic Director Josh Whitman as our speaker! Josh's
path is a pretty unique and exciting! He will talk about that,
the direction of UW-L athletics, and different ways to get
involved.
Tuesday, February 19th ,2305 Centennial Hall 7pm
We are starting off the Spring
semester with the Chill! Head Coach AJ Degenhardt from the
Coulee Region Chill will be talking to us for our first meeting.
After AJ's presentation, there will be an opportunity for new
members to pay their dues and either ask questions or sign up
for the Lambeau Field trip. As a reminder, dues are $20 and the
Lambeau trip is an additional $20. If you plan on signing up for
the Lambeau trip please bring $20 cash or check (or $40 for new
members, $20 for dues, $20 for trip). See you all there!
Saturday, April 6th, Mitchell Hall
We will be leaving for Green Bay to tour the
Packer's facilities at 8am outside of Mitchell Hall. Once we are
done with the tour, everyone will have a chance to look through
the Hall of Fame and purchase anything you'd like from the Pro
Shop. There will be pizza and soda/water for the ride home. It
promises to be a good time!
Friday, May 10th, Myrick Park 3-6pm
Everyone is welcome to our annual end of the year
cookout! We will be serving brats, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips,
soda and water. We are excited to also be announcing the new
2013-2014 officers for SMA at the cookout! Please stop by for a
much needed reprieve from studying and writing papers! We hope
to see everything there to cap-off another great year for SMA!
All of our speakers will bring great insight of their field, a chance to network, free advice to the audience, and potentially internship opportunities so please don't miss out!
We will keep you updated on the specific dates each speaker will
be scheduled on as soon as it is confirmed with our officers!
