Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) Portfolio Assessment Process

Students in ESS 225 will construct their portfolio and work toward meeting Standard 9. By the end of ESS 225 students will participate in their first portfolio conference with their academic advisor. Advisors will read the reflective statement, look at the artifact which was created as part of ESS 225 requirements, and either sign the form or ask for continued revisions.

By the completion of Junior Block students will acquire signatures indicating they have met all 10 standards. Students will share their portfolio with their academic advisor during their 2nd portfolio conference.

  1. Artifacts and reflective statements are taken to the instructor of the class from which that artifact was created. This person is responsible for reading the reflective statement, and either signing or asking for continued revisions.
  2. In the case that an artifact was created outside of a student’s course work, it should be taken to the student’s academic advisor, who is responsible for reading the reflective statement, analyzing the artifact and either signing or asking for continued revisions.

By the completion of student teaching, teacher candidates will update and revise their portfolio making it representative of their most current level of growth on all 10 standards. Artifacts and reflective statements will be replaced with evidence created during the student teaching process. A final portfolio conference (portfolio showcase) will take place with their University Supervisor.
