General Instruction About Using Portfolio Templates

The pages that form the basic structure of your electronic portfolio have already been created for you. You will be customizing your portfolio, but at this point you do not need to worry much about designing. Take time to review the three templates, pick the template that appeals to you and follow the downloading instructions.

You will find that each page comes with instructions and in many cases you only need to replace the instruction lines with your content. Let’s take the Resume page or any Standard page for example: Where it says, “Insert/type/write/place/paste your resume here,” you will only need to insert/type/write/place/paste your content.

Artifacts Folder:

Organization will be paramount as you begin to add content and as you go along updating and maintaining your website. We created a folder for your artifacts; be they videos, Word documents, PDF files, or other file types you may have. The name of the folder is Artifacts.

Making Links:

After saving or copying your artifacts to the Artifacts folder the next step is to create appropriate hyperlinks to respective pages in your portfolio. If you do not know how to create hyperlinks click here (pdf) to learn about creating hyperlinks. In presenting these templates, we assume that you know FrontPage basics and that you have attended web editing and web content management workshops on campus. However, if you encounter some challenges please feel free to contact the ITS Support Center at 785-8774.
