Special Education Program Advising
All Teacher Education Candidates are assigned two advisors: a faculty academic advisor and a professional portfolio advisor. These advisors may be two different faculty members in the Department of Educational Studies. All candidates are encouraged to develop a relationship with their respective advisors as soon as possible after being notified of their assignment. Advisors are assigned for the duration a candidate remains in the Teacher Education Program.
Undergraduate Advising
Undergraduate candidates are encouraged to see their academic advisor along with their Student Notice of Academic Progress (SNAP) report every semester prior to registration. Academic advisors are indicated on the upper left hand corner of your SNAP report. See the DES Faculty Directory for faculty contact information.
Portfolio advisors are assigned during the Clinical II semester and remain through the student teaching experience. After the start of the Fall 2008 semester, portfolio advisors will be assigned during the Field Experience I semester.
Graduate Advising
Graduate candidates are encouraged to see their Graduate Program Director who serves as their academic and portfolio advisor. The program director maintains each candidate’s academic file and oversees their progress in the portfolio process.
