Alumni Newsletter - November 2003 To all our alumni: As always it brings me great pride to bring forth another month of good news. First off I would like to thank alumni brothers Shane Rogers, Brian Shaw, Scott Swanson, and Dru Sommers for their help in these past weeks. Your time and effort have made a great impact and have not gone unforgotten. Elections were recently held and we have our new E-board slotted for the next year. All other positions will be posted as soon as minutes are sent out. Next up, membership. Although we started with seven bids, we recently initiated four new members. The other three are still interested, however due to other obligations they have chosen to put off membership in Sigma Tau Gamma. We are hoping to gain their full interest next semester. We have also began getting pictures developed, scanned, and placed on the web site for you to view. Pictures include socials, our annual gun shooting tourney, and Ghoulies n the Coulies. Big thanks go out to our soon-to-be graduating member, Steve Mitchell, who jumped in and finally got us a message board that works. You can access it here. This should prove beyond beneficial to keeping alumni in contact with not only our chapter, but each other as well. Please take the time to sign up and leave a message so we know you are out there. Programs have gone quite well as of late. We recently held a social with both the AZD's and the Alpha Phi's, which included a Cuff n Stuff and a Hayride out at Blue Bird Campground. Formal is fast approaching and due to some minor troubles with invitations being printed properly, we have opted to post our invitations online. Those may be accessed here. We wish all of a happy and safe Thanksgiving and look forward to hearing from you on the message board as well as seeing you in person at this year's Winer Formal. Till then - best wishes from the Beta Kappa Chapter! Alumni Newsletter - October 2003 First off a big greetings to all of you - for those that were here over the past weekend for Oktoberfest - we hope your time was well enjoyed and were glad to see you. Second a big apology for not getting a letter out last month. I had sent a report out however it appears many of you did not receive it - my sincere apologies - it may have been my own personal error or a virus on my computer - nonetheless it has been fixed and we have good news to report! The semester is off to a great start for Sigma Tau Gamma here in La Crosse. After a well-planned rush week, we are proud to report that we have 8 associates pinned at this point! Aside from rush, our chapter has been doing quite excellent in other areas as well. After receiving our grades from last semester, we have once again acheived the highest fraternity GPA on campus thus marking the 6th of 7 semesters in which we have done so. Out of the 13 members still enrolled from last semester, 8 achieved a 2.75 or higher and 5 received a 3.0 or higher. Of the other 5, all but two were above a 2.5. Now on to some current issues. First off, initiation is fast approaching and with 8 new members and only 13 actives here - well....you do the math. Thus we are in need of any and all alumni who would be willing to come and assist us in our formal initiation ceremony. The date is scheduled for Saturday, November 8th. The site is yet undetermined however it will be in La Crosse. If anyone is available to help - please email us here. Next up on the list is our winter formal. The date is scheduled for December 6th and will be held in La Crescent. We have planned for a main course of Chicken and Ham as well as odourves (not sure how to spell that one!) for later on. Plates will cost $16 each at this point. We would also like to reserve a half barrel of beer for those of us who are 21+ years of age - of which the cost will be $125. Please give us some feedback as to whether you would like to do this. That should be it for now. Sorry to have it be so long but we have a lot of good things going on as you can see. As always, the web page is being worked on - I apologize for not having a message board up yet - however I cannot find a way to make it password accessible yet - I hope to stumble upon the answer one of these days. Thank you for all of your support - if you have any questions or comments - please let us know. Sincerely~ Andy Ziemann Executive Vice President
PS - Here is a list of our new members and their emails in the event you wish to contact them and congratulate them.
