Dear Brothers of Sigma Tau Gamma,

Greetings and a happy December to all of you.
The holidays are right around the corner and I hope
that
each and every one of you will be spending this time
with those you care about.  My name is Aron McManus
(Dough) and I am the new Executive Vice President for
our chapter.  I hope that throughout the year I will
do a
competent job of keeping you all up to date with what
is
going on in the fraternity.  So let's get started.

First business is we recently had elections and after
a hard fought battle for Sgt at Arms we now have new
faces at our positions.  The new E-board is as
follows:

President-     Elliot Howe
Exec Vice President-     Aron (Dough) McManus
VP of Membership-     Tom Connell
VP of Programs-    Chris Bushnell
VP of Finance-     Adam Swessel
VP of Philanthropy-     Eric David
Secretary-     Chad Tripp

We are all excited with this new E-board and we have
high expectations for the coming year.  From the get
go we have already accomplished some changes that have
been a long time in the coming.  The website has been
updated for the first time in two year!!  We are
excited about this and hopefully will have this site
fully updated by the beginning of spring semester.
Please check out the site and make use of the message
board.  I have spoken to Quadi who has offered to help
perhaps revamp this website as well so hopefully we
will have a new look to it as well.

Winter Formal was held on Dec 3rd and from all
accounts it was a successful and enjoyable formal.  A
big thank you to all alumni that were able to make it,
and to those that could not attend I really hope that
we do see you at White Rose.  Tom Connell was the
recipent of the Delta Zeta Iota award.

We have been keeping busy with activities and have set
up a lot of new activities already for next semester.
We
recently played bingo at the Altera Elderly home.
That was a blast and we plan on repeating this on a
monthly basis.  We have been ringing bells/caroling
for the Salvation Army.  We have registered for the
walk of life and will be helping out at the Place of
Grace food kitchen monthly, starting next month, as
well.  We had an excellent turnout at the recent GAMMA
event this last Wednesday.  I believe the only two
people not in attendance were Peter and Myself (I was
on a cruise ;) We dropped off Christmas gifts at the
Oliver household.  We gave Ma and Pa Oliver a 60
dollar gift certificate to Piggy's and JadeAnn an
assortment of gifts including slippers, a sweater and
a couple of toys.

We have made strides to improve our relationship with
Greek community as well.  We recently helped run the
Greek booth at a leadership conference on campus.  We
had a social with the A PHIs.  It was a fun night of
games and just hanging out.  We also had a social with
SAE.  We played football with them and put a whooping
on them but it back fired as the last play of the game
Tom Connell broke his nose.  We are currently in the
works with setting up a social with AZD and Tom is
trying to get an all fraternity social going, we are
thinking bowling.

In general Greek life there is a few events that you
might take interest in.  The biggest news is that the
TKE's are no more.  They met last week and have, on
their own, suspended their chapter indefinitely.  They
had some recent scandals and the chapter really fell
into hard times.  This is unfortunate.  The Delta
Sigma Phi house was recently vandalized.  The inside
of their house was covered on three floors with debris
from a chemical fire extinguisher.  Their cleaning
bill has been estimated at about 2000 dollars.

As most of you know we are no longer doing Teeter.  We
will be replacing this with a battle of the bands
event which we have begun to set up.  I should be
meeting with Chilsen soon to create a formal
invitation to the AZD's and SAE's to assist us in this
event.

Well now let's talk about the future of our chapter.
This last year was really a down year for us in many
aspects.  We really need to make some major
adjustments and we need to make them soon.  We have
created some goals and I think we have our priorities
set.  First and foremost we need to increase our
membership.  We have some good ideas for recruitment
and we are set a goal of 8 new members this semester.
This should be a challenge but I really do think we
are up to it.  Secondly, we need to rekindle our
relationship with Chilsen.  We really let him down
this past year and we need to make some serious amends
with him.  We have talked to him and I personally plan
on meeting with him on a monthly basis but more than
that we really need to prove ourselves to him and
regain his trust.  Other things of note this year are
to become more active in the community and the Greek
community on campus.  We need to create a
scholarship program with requirements and criteria. We
also would like to get you alumni more involved with
activities
and events.  We are always open you to challenging us
and giving us both comments and criticism, but on our
end
we really would appreciate more involvement with you
guys.  We need you to support us, even more so when we
are in hard times.  Dubbs was the only alumni to make
it to initiation weekend which I think would be an
important event to both current members and alumni
alike.  We would like to see much more of you this
next semester and at the very least it would be nice
to see a big turn out of alumni to white rose formal.
Please think on that.

Well that is about all I have in this newsletter.  If
ever you have any questions, concerns or comments on
these newsletters or anything about the fraternity
please feel free to email me at this address or call
me if you would like.  I really want to keep a clear
line of communication between us.  Also in the effort
to update our website I would like it if you could
give me an updated profile so that we can post that on
the website.  Please just fill out the questions below

In closing, I hope you all enjoy a safe and happy
holiday season with those you love.  I look forward to
the future newsletters and hopefully hearing from each
and every one of you as the year goes on.

Fraternally,
Dough
