Nickname:

“Ralphy.” When I was but a young tike, I looked just like the actor, Peter Billingsly, who played the character of “Ralphy” in the classic holiday movie entitled “The Christmas Story.”  A photo of me when I was probably 10 was hanging up in my dorm room and my future Sig Tau Big Brother, Jason Gahan, (who lived a few doors down from me in Hutch Hall at the time) saw the picture and started calling me Ralphy.  That’s how I got my nickname.  I have to say that I don’t think I’ve heard one of my brothers call me Jon more than 5 times while I was active.  Ralphy was my name and I probably responded to Ralphy quicker than I responded to Jon!

Since I graduated from UW-La Crosse in May of 1998, I have been living and working in Door County, WI.  I am enjoying living here with my special someone, my fiance Natalie, and we enjoy partaking in all of the things that Door County has to offer year ‘round.  I am a proud member (and Vice-President) of the Jacksonport Polar Bear Club, and look forward to our club's annual swim held every year on January 1st at 12 noon in Jacksonport, WI.  You and anyone you know are invited to join us, and would join several hundred other swimmers that take the plunge with us each year in Lake Michigan.  Check out our club's website at www.doorbell.net/pbc.  There are a few classic “Ralphy” pictures you might enjoy there!  Little did I know that some things I did as our Chapter’s V.P. of Membership in 1997 would be things I am now doing professionally as the Membership Director for the Door County Chamber of Commerce and in other organizations that I am a part of.  Take advantage of every opportunity you have to get involved…it’ll pay off!

My fondest memory from my active Sig Tau days is not one thing, but everything.  Just being a part of the gang and hanging out and doing all of the things Sig Tau was involved with; from helping out with Halloween haunted forests, to Teeter-Totter-A-Thon, to Holiday formals and our White Rose Chartering ceremony/formal to initiation ceremonies and “gatherings” and every little thing in between.  The friendships we made and the life lessons we all learned together as brothers while doing each and every one of those things are memories that I will carry with me forever.

Congratulations to Jon and Natalie on their recent engagement!!!
