The Voices’ Notes

1-22-06

Roll call – ‘Absent’ – Peter, Drew, Bushnell, ‘Swessel’ – Tardy – Levi, E-Roc.

“Get Halweg out of the of the computer lab so we can start.”

“Not it. Not it. Not it. – Chuck did you say got it?”

“Yeah,-- uh… I mean NO!?”

President – Elliot – everyone should have a planner by now, it will be essential this semester to your updated survival in this fraternity. If you may so choose, I (The Voice), have a leather bound planner which smells of mahogany, which can be purchased at your local Wal-Mart for 8 dollars.

Rockin’ 4 hunger (which should have been called Drummin for Drumsticks – and been completely percussion oriented) is coming up soon, do your job, do it right, if you have questions ask the Member of E-Board who best fits your area – Bushnell in programs – Eric in Philanthropy – or Dough or Elliot. If you have no responsibilities for this event and want to help talk to dough and elliot – they will find something for you.

Everyone needs to meet with our advisor Joe Chilsen once a week starting today, if you are doing your stuff and attending events and meetings these will be quick and painless, if not, they will suck.

VP – Doughsef – One more time just for good measure – 1.00 per missed class – all proceeds go to Benny Oliver fund, so if you can get great grades and skip classes – we are talking win-win here. If not – choose the grades over the money for us – reduced prices for good GPA’s – 3.0 = 50% off – 3.5 = 75% off – 4.0 = free no matter how many are missed; $35 cap per person.

Scholarships will be awarded from now on in part on a points system involving points for attendance at events, as well as GPA requirements. Too bad for Ryan and I on that.

Programs – Bushnell – Brotherhood this week – rugby 4 pm, on Thursday at Drake field – which is also Ryan’s 21st Birthday – Thirsty Thursday at Brothers anyone – who is of legal, consenting age of course.

“Where is Drew

Tom: “Wait, wait – he is at the Police Station ” – “Really??

Parents Weekend – Feb. 25th – dinner at 7 Bridges – “First class all the way – Class, Class, Class! It is also Levi’s 21st Birthday – “I’m ready to get drunk”.

Socials with A Phi’s and AZD’s coming up – YAY!

Formals from now on may be sporadically themed – so they may be cowboy riding ho downs – or lingerie battles – or even Bargain basement-ed outfitters only. Be ready!

Recently a large stockpile of extra Benny bands were found – time to distribute and sell them – I for one will be putting $5 towards that seeing that someone has clipped mine from my room – no names – because I just really don’t know who it was.

Membership – Thomas Clutch Connell (TCC) – Rush week next week – it will be big to get off to a good start in standing with the transfers, 2nd semester freshman and continuing students. Sign ups next meeting for events.  Liz Kaufman will be naked – if you want to look you are probably desperate or Eric David.

Finance – Swessel – Dues are $220 something. Fundraisers will be happening that you can participate in to greatly reduce these costs – such as: Magazine sales (Fun Fun) – Levi’s house (maybe?, is Erica gonna be there?) – Krispy Kremes – Halo 2 Tournament. – Any more ideas bring them up to Tom, Elliot, Bushnell or Dough.

Philanthropy – Eric David – We will be at the Alterra assisted living (old folks) home on Tuesday, February 21 at 6 pm, for an as yet unidentified event. Also rush week Wednesday (Feb. 1st), we will be there for bingo. If you haven’t been there, please come, it is great fun, and you can meet Eric’s woman – Elizabeth Kaufman-David. Congratulations kids.

The ‘Place of Grace’ community service event will be happening soon and hopefully often – it is a Christian based food kitchen – so even if you are *antagonistic*, please come and share in a meal celebrating the birth of our lord (actual or mythical).

Chad: Tom, you didn’t even know you were a coordinator.

Tom: Chad, you didn’t even know you were The Voice.

Chad: Oh I knew I was The Voice.’

Old Business – Christmas cards were sent out to fellow Fraternities and Sororities (thanks Tom & Dough), they were a great hit. The Oliver’s Christmas presents were greatly appreciated, especially JadeAnn’s.

There will be a meeting Wednesday night at 9 pm with the SAE’s about their battle of the bands, which is to be held one week before ours. This is the biggest even of the year, this meeting is very important, - Dough, Tom, Elliot and myself will be in attendance, you should be too.

Be good citizens – it reflects as poorly upon the Fraternity as it does upon yourself. No drunk driving whatsoever. No stealing, other than hearts. Promise?!

New Business – Fraternity Composite (Picture), for those who don’t know, if you didn’t know that though, you are probably “gifted” and can’t hold a 2.0 GPA.

Eric David lost the Turkey Trot to Tom Connell in November 2005, and got beat in Super Tecmo bowl tonight by Elliot Howe. Ouch!

Open Business – Regionals February 17th – 19th in Illinois, could be fun.

Volunteer at the Children’s museum, fun and productive, talk to Dough.

Benny’s Birthday (Feb. 5th), also the super bowl, will hopefully be held in Stoddard at Benny’s Parents house, if not, somewheres around here with lots of food, drink and most importantly friends and family. Bring a dish to pass – if you can. Do not force it if it might hurt someone. - Chad: “I’ll just bring myself, I am a dish.”

Phonetree – call your person about next weekends meeting (the time), if they were not present.

Gavel -            Eric David had a mullet – Chuck played with Manure – Elliot has to poop.

Next weeks meeting is at 3 pm.
