Scholarships

    The local scholarship program was designed by the Executive Board in conjunctions with a committee assigned by the Beta Kappa alumni association at the conclusion of the fall 1995 semester. The intent behind the scholarship is to promote and reward academic success, strengthen brotherhood, and aid in recruitment.  

    Every semester the Beta Kappa alumni association allots $400 to the Chapter. At the conclusion of the semester, the Executive Board reviews the grades and attendance of all scholarship applicants and applies the information to the scholarship criteria. The Executive Board nominates and votes on all candidates. Scholarships are awarded at the White Rose Formal in the spring or the Holiday Formal in the fall semester. Below is the criteria for scholarship eligibility.


Active Member Scholarship:


    The active member scholarship is a $100 grant. The grant may be divided if the Executive Board rules a "tie" between active members. The active member who applies for this scholarship will be judged 60% on grade point average (GPA) and 40% on dedication to Fraternity. Dedication to Fraternity is based on attendance at chapter meetings, philanthropy events, service events, and social events.

The GPA requirement is a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.


Associate Member Scholarship:


    The associate member scholarship is a $200 grant divided into three categories.

Associate Status Level One:

    $100 will be awarded to the associate that exemplifies the Six Principles of Sigma Tau Gamma. The associate who applies will be judged 50% on GPA and 50% on dedication to Fraternity. The GPA requirement is a 3.0/4.0 and dedication to fraternity is based on attendance at chapter meetings, philanthropy events, service events, and social events.

Associate Status Level Two:

    $75 will be awarded to the associate that exemplifies the Six Principles of Sigma Tau Gamma. The associate who applies will be judged 50% on GPA and 50% on dedication to Fraternity. The GPA requirement is a 3.0/4.0 and dedication to fraternity is based on attendance at chapter meetings, philanthropy events, service events, and social events.

Associate Status Level Three:

    $25 will be awarded to the associate who has the ability to be a great leader and shows a promising future in Sigma Tau Gamma. The GPA requirement is a 2.2/4.0.


Team Project:


    $100 will be awarded to the Big Brother/ Little Brother team that produces a semester long project or event that best exemplifies one of the Six Principles of Sigma Tau Gamma. The projects will be voted on by all actives and associates at the first meeting of the following semester.

Clauses:

Clause One

    If less than three prospective associate per semester, the division of grant money is subject to change as ruled by the Executive Board.

Clause Two : 

    All scholarships are subject to amendment in accordance with amendment procedures outlines in the Beta Kappa Chapter Constitution and by-laws.

Clause Three : 

    As elected officials and representatives of the Chapter, Executive Board decisions are final.
